Reviews Overview

Most Liked

People frequently commend the generous portion sizes at Amersham Fish Bar, noting that even medium-sized meals are often enough for two. The classic cod, paired with the thick, airy batter and expertly cooked chunky chips, earns rave reviews for its texture and flavor. The consistent quality of the food stands out, especially for traditional favorites like battered sausages and fish cakes. Patrons appreciate the friendly service, which complements the overall inviting vibe of the place. Many consider it 'the best chip shop' in the area, reflecting true devotion amongst loyal customers.

Most Disliked

Some guests mention the slight wait times during peak hours, particularly on busy Friday evenings when the demand peaks. This can lead to a hurried dining experience, as people compete for tables. Others express a wish for a broader menu selection beyond the traditional offerings, suggesting that it could benefit from seasonal dishes or daily specials. Although the seating is wheelchair accessible, some find the interior space a touch cramped during busy times, which could deter those looking for a more relaxed meal.

Decent chips. Hardly any of those little off cut bits that you often get. Fish portions are big. A large size is enough for two.

The cod and chips is fabulous. Succulent, tasty and fresh white cod that falls apart in moist flakes, covered in a light but crispy batter, and firm light golden chips with a decent crunch and minimal oil. The food is cooked to order so be ready to wait ten minutes, or more if it's busy. There's room to eat in at a bar, and it beats being outside on a wintery evening, but it's a fish bar, not a fish restaurant so don't expect polished cutlery. The staff are friendly though.
